Missionary Baptist Church
Church History

In 1965, under the leadership of Rev. George Thompson, the church was moved to Willow Street.
In 1999, the Lord sent us our, Rev. Dr. Quincy L. Fortson, Sr. Under his leadership, a new Family Life Center was built on Williams Street.
In 2016, Rev. Antonio Derricotte was elected as our current Pastor.
The Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church was erected in 1891 with the Reverend B.F. Porter as pastor. The church stood on Bartlett Street for 35 years (1891-1926) as a big rock church. The church sold the lot to Mr. H.L. Wiggs for the granite that was underneath the Holy Ground. This was the reason it was called, "The Rock".
In 1927, the church was moved to Elbert Street. At this site, a new concrete block church was built at a cost of $3,000. During this era, the church was under the leadership of Rev. Henry Early Fortson. The church remained at this site for 38 years.
